Hello Friend!

It’s Tracey here, and I’m so excited to be joining you today with my first blog post here at Scrapbooks by Design!

Have you checked out the store lately?  There’s an abundance of awesome goodness there just waiting to tempt you and spark your creativity!  I had so much fun browsing and finally decided to use the Graphic 45 Botanical Tea 12×12 Paper Pad to showcase and design my card!

My favorite style is vintage and will always jump at the chance to create is a vintage inspired card. When I saw this paper line…the butterflies, the birds…especially the hummingbirds, this choice came easily.

Now when I’m short on time and need to create a stunning but simple card, I always turn to a coordinating paper pack. (You can find some gorgeous packs in the store here). The image panels that you can cut out, and the coordinating patterned paper make the task of designing quick and simple.  I chose to use a 5×7 card blank, cut out one of the hummingbird panel images, selected a matching patterned paper for the background and yet another striped patterned paper for the two accent pieces behind the image.  Even the sentiment comes from this awesome paper pack!

Once all of your paper pieces have been cut to size, ink all of the edges of each piece to give the card an aged feeling.  Adhere the background paper to the back of the card front.  Layer and adhere the rest of the paper pieces together, but do not adhere to the card. Finish off with the trimmed sentiment and a button in a coordinating color.   Loop the gold twine around the second card piece and tie in the back.  Before adhering the main section of the card to the background with 3D pop up dots, melt some Tim Holtz Distress embossing powder in Pumice Stone in a few corners to give the card an extra vintage feel and some texture.

A touch of fine glitter to the center of the flowers…and you’re done!

Super simple and perfect to send to a friend!

So remember the next time you need to create a quick and elegant card in a hurry, be sure to go through your coordinating paper packs.  Don’t have any stashed in your craft room…be sure to check them out at Scrapbooks by Design!

Until next time…
